As you might recall, this past February we held a seminar on performance-based outsourcing (aka vested outsourcing). We had a great lineup of speakers, including folks from Whirlpool, Del Monte Foods, Penske Logistics, Transplace, Unipart Logistics, and a former executive from Thermadyne Holdings. Kate Vitasek, author of Vested Outsourcing: Five Rules that Will Transform Outsourcing was the keynote speaker.
Well, thanks to the folks at SupplyChainBrain, we were able to conduct video interviews with some of these thought leaders. Below are four of these videos (you can watch the video of me discussing PBO here).
So, today’s posting is less about reading and more about watching and listening. Don’t have time to watch the videos right now? No problem: watch them during lunch today or sometime this week; or on your iPhone while you wait for your flight at the airport; or watch one video each morning when you get to the office before the day gets hectic. But watch them.
And then ask yourself these questions: What are the common themes discussed in these interviews? (Hint: the importance of trust is one of them). Are the issues discussed by these experts present in my logistics outsourcing relationships? If so, will I take action to address these issues or will I continue down the path of least resistance?
