Initial Analyst Briefing

WHAT THIS IS

An initial Analyst Briefing is a short, structured conversation designed to determine whether analyst involvement makes sense for a specific situation. It is not a discovery call, a sales call, or a working session. No analysis is performed during this briefing.

WHY THIS BRIEFING EXISTS

Many conversations feel productive without leading to outcomes. This briefing exists to create clarity quickly and to avoid wasted time on both sides.

In ten minutes, we determine whether the problem is real and current, whether it is framed clearly enough for analysis, whether engagement would be useful, and which engagement model, if any, is appropriate. If none are appropriate, we say so.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE BRIEFING

The briefing follows a fixed structure. We ask two questions. What problem are you trying to solve right now? Is this effort budgeted or exploratory?

We may ask one or two clarifying questions to understand scope or timing. The conversation stays tightly focused.

WHAT THIS BRIEFING IS — AND IS NOT

This briefing is short and structured, focused on qualification and fit, designed to protect time and attention, and a prerequisite for most engagements.

This briefing is not a free consulting session, an opportunity to review vendors or solutions, a brainstorming discussion, or a substitute for paid analysis. If deeper discussion is needed, a formal engagement is required.

POSSIBLE OUTCOMES

At the end of the briefing, one of four outcomes occurs. No engagement is recommended. A Tactical Engagement is appropriate. A Strategic Engagement is appropriate. Retainer Advisory is appropriate. There is no assumption that work must continue.

WHEN TO REQUEST A BRIEFING

A 10-Minute Analyst Briefing makes sense when a decision is approaching, internal discussions have stalled, external perspective may help clarify trade-offs, or leadership wants to confirm the right next step.

If you are early in exploration or gathering background information, published research may be a better starting point.

WHAT TO DO NEXT
